Lisa B. Lee to Speak at El Dorado Hills Genealogical Society

On WEDNESDAY, JUNE 20, 2012 please come to the regular monthly El Dorado Hills Genealogical Society meeting in the community room at the El Dorado Hills Branch Library, 7455 Silva Valley Parkway. The meeting begins promptly at 6:15p.m.. We encourage you to arrive at 6:00 p.m. or earlier to become acquainted with our members.

Our speaker this month is LISA B. LEE who will speak on "FINDING YOUR UNFINDABLES - TECHNIQUES FOR USING ONLINE RESOURCES." We are very fortunate to have Lisa B. Lee, a professional genealogist, the owner of www.gotgenealogy.com, and publisher of the monthly newsletter, The Got Genealogy Gazette.  She will make the trip from Oakland to talk with us about how to search for the"‘UNFINDABLES".

Lisa speaks and conducts workshops at genealogical societies and conferences in the U.S. and Canada where her animated style, infinite knowledge of everything internet, ensures us that we will not only learn a lot, but will have fun doing so.  Our membership always welcomes visitors. Event of Note – El Dorado Hills Genealogy Society Meeting

On Wednesday, January 18 from 6:15p.m. – 8:00 p.m., the El Dorado Hills Genealogy Society will have their Annual Meeting when members will be electing a new director to the EDHGS Board. It is extremely important that every 2012 member attend for this voting opportunity. This meeting will be held in the community room of the El Dorado Hills Library, 7455 Silva Valley Pkwy.
Following the Annual Meeting, we will welcome the enthusiastic speaker, Pamela Dallas, Remember the Ladies: Finding Your Female Ancestors. Her goal is to help us uncover the clues that will help find the elusive female ancestors! We will explore methods of locating cemeteries, preparing for a research trip, and ways of recording the information we find. We will also learn about burial registers, headstone inscriptions and symbols, plus much more during this fascinating presentation.
Members are especially encouraged to attend our first genealogical meeting of the 2012 new year. Visitors are welcome. If you have any questions, please email, edhgs@yahoo.com. Hope to see you next Wednesday evening.

You're Invited! Beginning Writing Presentation

You will be busy this coming Wednesday.  After attending the Root Cellar Sacramento Genealogical Society workshop on Wednesday, September 21st, head to El Dorado Hills.

All are welcome to hear Marian Kile speak at the next El Dorado Hills Genealogical Society meeting.

  • Topic: Beginning Writing
Marian Kile will give us a few tips for writing short stories about our ancestors. This presentation will help both the non-writer and the experienced writer to develop short stories that capture the essence of family members or special events. The focus will be on stories that are about 500 words long, but the process can be applied to longer stories.

Plan to arrive 15+ minutes early in order to have a chance to chat with fellow genealogy enthusiasts. The short business meeting will start promptly at 6:15 p.m. Visitors are welcome at these 3rd Wednesday of each month evening meetings. If you have questions, please send us an email.
